American tenor John Bernard enjoys a varied repertoire, and is noted for his thoughtful interpretive gift. His repertoire encompasses music from many eras, including the Classical, Romantic and Contemporary.
John has performed roles with Glimmerglass Opera, Sarasota Opera, Utah Opera, El Paso Opera, Toledo Opera, Boston Lyric Opera, Ohio Light Opera, Dicapo Opera Theatre, Maine Grand Opera, Boston Academy of Music, and Longwood Opera. Roles performed include Nemorino, Fenton, Count Almaviva, Prince Ramiro, Tybalt, Laurie in Little Women, Camille in The Merry Widow, Don Basilio in Le Nozze di Figaro, Fernando in Goyescas, Frederic in The Pirates of Penzance, and Prince Hilarion in Princess Ida.
John was recently featured in Schumann’s oratorio Das Paradies und die Peri with The Hudson Valley Singers, presented by New York City’s Society for Ethical Culture.
After making his Carnegie Hall debut in February 2007, John premiered Thea Musgrave's Voices of Protest and Praise at The United Nations in New York City. Later that year, he debuted with The Collegiate Chorale in Carl Orff's Carmina Burana and Brahm's Liebeslieder Walzer, also in New York City.
John has also performed with The New Haven Symphony, Utah Symphony, Pennsylvania Sinfonia Orchestra, Melrose Symphony Orchestra, Masterworks Chorale, and The Westchester Oratorio Society.
Upcoming performances include Lindoro in L'italiana di Algieri with Dicapo Opera Theater, and Rossini's Petite Messe Solennelle at St. Thomas Church, New York City.
